Learn-to-Sail

The Corpus Christi Yacht Club is offering Learn-to-Sail lessons for youth ( both members and non-members) aged 7-15 throughout the summer of 2008. Classes run Monday-Friday from 8:30-2:00, and are taught by US Sailing certified instructors.

 Students will learn about on water safety, proper rigging techniques, basic sailing skills, knots, nautical terminology and weather. Optimist Dinghy's, Bytes and 420 Dinghy’s will be used for instruction. 

 Upon completion of the CCYC Learn-to-Sail course sailors will be awarded a certificate of achievement and will go home wanting to come back for more sailing fun.

 During the Intermediate Sailing Lessons, students will learn the finer points of sailing. From sail trim to wind and tactics, focus will be on how to efficiently sail on Corpus Christi Bay.

 Sailors will venture further outside the Yacht Club Marina than in the Learn-to-Sail classes, and for those interested a small introduction to racing will be offered.
